Low glycaemic (low GI) refers to carbohydrates that are slow to digest and result in a steady supply of sugar into the blood stream providing sustained energy and reducing blood glucose and insulin spikes.  A low GI diet is recommended for diabetes management, weight loss and general healthy eating.
